On the 12th of September, a selection of clever Marlborough Boys' College students came to judge the exhibits that the senior school had made.

The students waited anxiously for the intelligent boys to come and view their work and hopefully give them good marks. After dragging over their boards, making desperate last minute touches, and harrassing Mr Johnson, they waited in anticipation. "It was really boring waiting for the boys to come," said Jayson, a Yr 6 participant in the science fair. His experiment got silver in the fair.

The kids were asked questions by the college boys such as, "What is your experiment about?" and "Would you care to elaborate on that?' The kids answered with the best possible 'scientific lingo' that they could. "Our group was the only group that spelt reference right," said Nikolai and Oscar SJ. Their group got a gold, meaning that they are allowed to compete in the Marlborough Science Fair on the 17th of September.

The year 7/8s boards were judged first. Then the Yr 6s. The kids got judged and asked questions, then were sent out. They were allowed to go and see their results after lunch. The rumours soon spread and the kids were high-fiving. The kids who got gold are going through to the Marlborough one next week. "It was really impressive seeing all the hard work being brought together," said Mrs Johnstone.  She helped some of the kids with their experiments.

There were both science and technology displays covering a selection of topics like:

  • Geology
  • Aerodynamics
  • Hunting
  • Food
  • Football
  • And many more

The kids who got gold are all anxious to compete in the Marlborough Science Fair and hopefully win some money for the school.
